Dr Renee Solomon and Lonnie Mc Creery from Forward Recovery share insights into their detox and residential treatment program.

When does someone need detox?

Regular use of substances like alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, cocaine, marijuana can lead to intense cravings. The cravings for drugs and alcohol can be so overwhelming that people will push away all of the good things in their lives. Additionally, there are times when stopping the use of alcohol or drugs can be dangerous. If someone has continued to use for a significant time a medical detox is needed to assure safety.

After someone has been safely detoxed they can then begin to focus on treatment. With most addiction there are underlying issues that need to be addressed for lasting recovery.
