No, and the distinction matters. BlueCross BlueShield is a national association of independent plans. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California are two separate California companies, each licensed by that association. Your card tells you which one you have. CAST works with all three.
Does my out-of-state Blue plan work in California?
Usually yes, through the BlueCard program. BlueCard lets members use their home plan’s benefits at participating providers anywhere in the country. If you moved to Los Angeles, are here temporarily, or have a child in treatment away from home, your out-of-state Blue plan will often apply.
Does BlueCross BlueShield cover a partial hospitalization program?

How do I know which Blue plan I have?
Look at the front of your member ID card. The name in the corner is your plan. A three-letter prefix before your member ID identifies the issuing plan and is what allows out-of-state coverage to process. Have that card available when you call and we will handle the rest.
